Event Details:
An esteemed panel of hedge fund managers and institutional investors will engage in
a discussion centered on industry best practices and principles for hedge fund
managers. In particular, the panelists will address what investors currently expect
from hedge fund managers in terms of infrastructure investment, compliance controls,
disclosure and transparency, as well as counterparty credit risk measurement and
monitoring practices. As part of the discussion, the panelists will highlight
certain recommendations found in both MFA's Sound Practices for Hedge Fund Managers
and the reports by the President's Working Group on Financial Markets Private Sector
Committees.
Panelists:
Jerome S. Contro - Chief Operating Officer, Crosslink Capital
Jerome joined Crosslink in 2008 as Chief Operating Officer. Crosslink is
an SEC registered investment advisor that manages approximately $1.4
billion in both public and private securities. It was formed in 1998 and
is based in san Francisco. Previously, he was a Partner at Tango for
nine years, a private investment company that focuses on both the public
and private equity markets, where he led successful venture capital
investments in ServiceMagic, IZZE Beverage and The Generations Network.
Before that he worked for John Nuveen & Co. (1983-1998), an investment
management firm with over $150 billion in assets, where he served in a
number of management roles including marketing, finance, compliance and
product development in both the firm's retail and institutional
businesses. He currently is a trustee of the Janus Funds. Jerome has a
B.A. from Northwestern University, an M.B.A. from University of Michigan
and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Carol Lokey, CPA, CFA, - Chief Financial Officer, Steelhead Partners, LLC
Carol is the Chief Financial Officer of Steelhead Partners LLC, a Seattle-based,
SEC-registered investment advisor. Steelhead was formed in 1996 to launch Steelhead
Navigator Fund, a long/short equity hedge fund. More recently, the firm added a
fund in the convertibles space and currently has approximately $1 billion under
management. Carol manages the firm's accounting, finance, compliance and operational
functions. Before joining Steelhead, she was Vice President of Finance at Orca Bay
Capital, a private investment company and family office. Prior to that, she was CFO
at Frazier & Company, a Seattle-based venture capital firm focused on the healthcare
industry. Carol has been a CPA since 1983 and a CFA charterholder since 2005. She
graduated from Gonzaga University with a degree in accounting.

Event Details:
This panel discussion will focus on whether the current market situation could have/should have been foreseen. Which strategies will benefit most from the current market volatility? How should allocators and fund managers be positioning themselves to take advantage?
Panelists:
Mr. Dunlap obtained his M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School in 1982 and a B.A. degree in economics and finance from University of Southern California in 1978. He is a member of the Security Analysts of San Francisco, and a director of the Pimco Strategic Global Government Fund, a NYSE closed end bond fund.
Mr. Epstein is a Co-Founder and Principal of Enable Capital Management, LLC, a San Francisco-based investment firm which provides equity and debt financing to publicly-traded growth companies; the firm has undertaken over 500 such financings since its beginnings in 2003.
Prior to co-founding Enable, he was Non-Executive Chairman of Surge Components, Inc., which acquired MailEncrypt, Inc., a Los Angeles-based provider of web-based, encrypted email services, where he was MailEncrypt's then President and CEO. Prior to Mr. Epstein's leadership tenure at MailEncrypt, he was Senior Vice President, and General Counsel of Tickets.com, Inc., an entertainment ticketing company based in Costa Mesa, CA, where he was one of the first ten employees. Outside of the technology realm, he was also co-founder and director of Achilles' Wheels, Inc., an operator of in-line skate/snowboard/hockey retail locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Mr. Epstein started his career as an attorney at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, after having been a law clerk at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. He has appeared on, among other networks, CNN and ABC News, lectured and written extensively about law and entrepreneurship, and, in November 1999, was featured on the cover of The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Epstein received his B.A., cum laude, from Vassar College, and also received a J.D. from Boston University.
At the beginning of 2000, Mr. Welch with his background in the futures markets and system design, co-founded TraderSource which provides investment management and consulting services in regards to managed futures and foreign exchange trading. TraderSource currently allocates approximately $180mm to a diverse group of managed futures and FX traders that participate in over 80 different markets.
